Come one, come all because

Renewable Energy Can Be Beautiful!

This is the tag line for a unique organization called Land Art Generator Initiative (LAGI), which uses public art to foster sustainability. They help communities around the world design renewable energy power plants, large and small, that are also extraordinary public art. In this way, power generation can be a beautiful part of the fabric of the community, encouraging the transition to renewable energy.

For more information about LAGI, please see https://landartgenerator.org.

In collaboration with Vista 360°, Energy Conservation Works and other local partners, LAGI is helping us bring a Land Art Generator Solar Murals to Teton County. We are inviting the community to come and learn more about this joyful project. Our full schedule of workshops on March 04 and 05 is below.

March Workshop

Burning Man Project at Fly Ranch

Owen Bircher Park in Wilson, we are offering a slide show presentation of the LAGI 2020 Fly Ranch International Design Competition of designs for Burning Man Project’s new 3,800-acre ranch.

Each August, the annual Burning Man event transforms a desolate corner of northern Nevada into a thriving temporary metropolis fueled by creativity, experimentation and awe. In 2016, the organization behind this city acquired Fly Ranch, a 3,800 acre property just north of the event site. This property is home to dozens of hot and cold springs, three geysers, acres of wetlands, dozens of animal species, and more than 100 identified types of plants. The Fly Ranch project is an opportunity to create a year-round rural incubator for Burning Man culture and a catalyst for creative culture in the world.

In collaboration with the Burning Man Project, LAGI led an international design competition for Fly Ranch in 2020, inviting designs in one or more of the following systems as functional and regenerative art:

Power

Water

Shelter

Food

Regeneration

LAGI co-founders Robert Ferry and Elizabeth Monoian will be presenting the winning designs from this competition.

Free hot dogs, beer and ginger beer will be offered.

There is also a drawing for a REGENERATE! Board game.

Traffic to Wilson shouldn’t be a problem on Sunday evening.

Monday August 30th Workshops

The Land Art Generator Solar Mural

The Solar Mural design process is being launched at Teton County Library on Monday, August 30th and everyone is invited to attend, including people of all ages. This workshop will take place from 2:00-4:00.

To better understand the context of this project, and Teton County’s transition to renewable energy sources, we are also offering a creative workshop about Teton County’s Carbon-Neutral Future.

This will include a panel discussion by local experts in energy, transportation, wildlife impacts of climate and Town & County planning. Panelists will describe their visions for Teton County in the post-transition future. What does it look like? What are the most important steps to get us there? This panel discussion will be followed by a community design charette to explore possibilities in a creative way.

Everyone is invited to attend. This workshop will take place from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, with a social hour preceding the workshop from 4:00 to 5:00.

A year ago, the Town of Jackson adopted a Net Zero Carbon Resolution, with the goal of reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030. These workshops will begin a journey to reach this goal in a beautiful and inspiring way.
